Shared Learning is pleased to announce a public lecture by by Katie Ziglar, Director of the Ackland Museum of Art at UNC. She’ll share with us hidden “behind the scenes” stories about the Ackland and its collections. After 28 years working in major American art museums, including the Freer/Sackler Galleries of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, she became Director of the Ackland in 2016. She leads the acquisition, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of works of art that support the University’s teaching, research, and public service missions and directs Ackland’s 27 full-time staff members as well as student volunteers and interns. Ms. Ziglar has a Bachelor’s degree in History from UNC at Chapel Hill and a Master’s degree in Islamic Art and Architecture from the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
Her talk will be on Thursday February 27th at 11:15 a.m. in the Youth Room, 1st floor of 103 Market St. in Southern Village. The talk is open to the public and provides an opportunity for people to learn about Shared Learning and its options for lifelong learning.
